How to download Instagram Reels without an app

You liked a Reel. You want it on your phone later, on a plane, or in a folder with your own clips. Instagram does not give you a simple Save video button on most Reels.

You do not need a random APK or a new app. You can do it in the browser you already have.

This walkthrough uses Savedfast’s Instagram Reels downloader. Same idea on a phone or a computer.

Only save Reels you own or have permission to save. Public links work. Private or locked posts usually will not. Follow Instagram’s rules and copyright law.

What you need

  • The Instagram app or instagram.com
  • Any browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge)
  • The Reel’s share link

No account on Savedfast. No install.

Step 1: Copy the Reel link

On the Instagram app

  1. 1. Open the Reel.
  2. 2. Tap the paper-plane share icon (or the three dots, depending on your app version).
  3. 3. Tap Copy link.

On instagram.com

  1. 1. Open the Reel.
  2. 2. Click the share icon or the three dots.
  3. 3. Click Copy link.

You should now have a URL that looks like an Instagram Reel or share link.

Step 2: Open the downloader

Go to savedfast.com/instagram-reels-download.

You will see a box that says you can paste a link, plus a Download button.

Step 3: Paste and download

  1. 1. Paste the Reel URL into the box.
  2. 2. Click Download.
  3. 3. Wait while the tool reads the link.
  4. 4. If it shows quality options, pick one.
  5. 5. Save the file. On a phone it lands in Downloads or Files. On a computer it lands in your Downloads folder.

That is the whole flow: copy, paste, download.

Phone tips

  • On iPhone, Safari works. After the file saves, open the Files app if it does not show in Photos right away. Some phones save video in Files first.
  • On Android, Chrome works. Check the Downloads app or the notification.
  • If paste does not work, long-press the box and tap Paste.

If it fails

  • Try the link again. Copy it fresh from Instagram. Old or shortened links can break.
  • Confirm the Reel is public. Stories, close-friends lists, and private accounts often will not work.
  • Try another browser or turn off a strict tracker blocker for that one tab.
  • If Instagram changed the share menu that week, look for Copy link under Share or More.

Watermarks and quality

The tool aims for a clean file. A watermark is not always gone. If the saved file still has one, that is a limit of the source, not a hidden paid upgrade.

Pick the highest quality the page offers if you plan to watch on a bigger screen. Pick a smaller option if you only need it on a phone and want a smaller file.
